Miguel Ángel Lutzow Steiner, Secretary of Health in San Luis Potosí, reported that variant b.1.617 of covid-19, known as the Indian variant, was identified in the state.
Lutzow Steiner explained that this is a patient who lives in San Luis Potosí, who is in the process of recovering from the disease.
The Indian variant B.1.617, identified in October 2020, has circulated in India, the United Kingdom, the United States, Singapore, and now it has been detected in Mexico.
The Secretary of Health called on the population of San Luis Potosí to continue with preventive measures such as the use of face masks, avoid crowded places and closed places.
He stressed that individual preventive measures help prevent a strain of coronavirus from continuing to transmit.
