The accident occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 24, at kilometer 17 of the superhighway at the height of the community of El Salitre, in the municipality of Rio Verde.
At least 10 people were killed, four of them minors, were the result of an accident between two vehicles that crashed on a road in San Luis Potosí, the State Prosecutor’s Office reported.
The Attorney General’s Office of the State of San Luis Potosí, through the Third Delegation, took note of a road accident, where 10 people died, according to a bulletin.
The accident occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday, Feb. 24, at kilometer 17 of the superhighway, near the community of El Salitre, in the municipality of Rioverde.
A personnel transport van and a heavy cargo transport truck were involved in the incident.
There are four minors among the casualties
The incident resulted in the death of five women, four minors, and one man, in addition to several injured persons, who were taken to hospitals in the region for medical care, FGESLP said.
According to local media, the people were members of a congregation of the Baptist church who had attended a religious event in Monterrey, Nuevo León, and were going back to their places of origin.
They also pointed out that the victims were from the Ejido “Llanitos,” from Ciudad Fernández and Rioverde.
So far the names of the deceased are unknown.
The superhighway was partially closed as rescue and clean-up operations were carried out.
Experts from the scientific deputy law enforcement arrived on site to carry out the removal of the bodies and transfer them to the Legal Medical Service to perform the corresponding autopsies of the law and determine the causes of their deaths.
The Prosecutor’s Office further reported that it opened an investigation into the accident to determine responsibilities. (EFE)
