SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico — Authorities in San Luis Potosí are awaiting forensic results after human remains were discovered in the municipality of Villa de Reyes, as investigators work to determine whether they belong to Tatiana Vanessa Almanza García, a 32-year-old Colombian national missing since August 25.
The State Attorney General’s Office (Fiscalía General del Estado) reported that the remains were located on the evening of September 1. Preliminary physical evidence, including a specific tattoo on the body, aligns with description details provided in the search bulletin for Almanza García. However, State Attorney General Manuela García Cáceres emphasized that formal identification remains pending until DNA testing and an autopsy are completed.
According to statements from her family, Almanza García had lived in Mexico City for several months before traveling to various states, including Puebla, Jalisco, Nuevo León, and Quintana Roo. Unofficial reports indicate she traveled to San Luis Potosí to meet a client and was last seen staying at a motel along Highway 57.
When colleagues lost contact with her, her sister alerted Mexican authorities from Colombia, prompting an official search missing persons report. Media reports suggested she operated under the alias “Gabriela Ruso” on adult service platforms like La Boutique VIP; however, state prosecutors have not confirmed any formal affiliation with specific websites, clarifying only that she traveled to the region independently for private services.
The case underscores ongoing security concerns regarding foreign nationals missing in Mexico. The State Attorney General’s Office maintains an open investigation into the circumstances surrounding her disappearance while awaiting forensic confirmation to determine the next steps in the case.
