The Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (SCT) of San Luis Potosí is preparing the state’s participation in the Federal Government’s passenger train project, which currently includes three preliminary stations: Villa de Reyes, the Industrial Zone, and the Historic Center of the state capital.

The Railway Museum is the leading proposal for the terminal in the capital city.

The SCT serves as the liaison between the State Government and the Federal Government to finalize the cooperation agreement that will streamline the procedures required to begin construction.

For the station in the Industrial Zone, authorities are evaluating land in the Terreros and Arroyos area. In the capital, two possible locations remain under consideration: the Railway Museum and the former railway station located beneath the Avenida Universidad Bridge.

SCT Serves as Liaison for the Federal Agreement

The head of the state agency, Araceli Martínez Acosta, stated that the SCT is acting as the liaison between the State Government and the Federal Government to finalize the cooperation agreement that will facilitate the administrative procedures necessary for the start of the project.

She explained that the document has already been reviewed by both the state and federal legal departments, and that only the required signatures are still pending.

Station Locations Under Evaluation

In addition to the planned station in Villa de Reyes, officials are evaluating a site in the Terreros and Arroyos sector for the Industrial Zone station.

For the capital city, two alternatives remain under consideration. The preferred and most viable option is the Railway Museum, while the second option is the former railway station located beneath the Avenida Universidad Bridge.
