Trailer Rams Potosí Family’s Vehicle in Zacatecas, 4 Dead; They Were Traveling to Mazatlán

A fatal accident occurred on Federal Highway 45 in Zacatecas, where a trailer rammed into a vehicle carrying a family from San Luis Potosí. Authorities confirmed the death of four people.

The incident took place on Wednesday morning near the community of El Sauz, in the municipality of Sain Alto, Zacatecas, where the Potosí family was apparently on a vacation trip.

Civil Protection and Firefighters of Saín Alto reported that the accident happened when a fifth-wheel trailer collided with the vehicle in which the family was traveling. According to shared images, both vehicles veered off the road, and the car ended up underneath the heavy truck.

Paramedics confirmed that four people lost their lives in the tragic accident. The deceased included the father, around 43 years old, and three minors, aged 15, 9, and 3 years, respectively.

Additionally, the mother, around 35 years old, was seriously injured and was rushed to a hospital in Fresnillo, Zacatecas.

Unofficially, it was said that the family was traveling in a Toyota truck from San Luis Potosí to Mazatlán, Sinaloa, for a vacation. A suitcase was found on top of the car.

It was also reported that the trailer driver managed to flee, and his whereabouts are currently unknown.

Finally, the area was cordoned off by elements of the National Guard, Road Division, to prevent another accident, while experts from the General Directorate of Forensic Services (DGSP) conducted the corresponding investigations and removal of the bodies.
