1604

San Luis Potosí is a state with great diversity in each of its four regions; here we present a guide to what you can find in this incredible destination that has the best spaces for relaxation, culture, tradition, adventure, and nature.

San Luis Potosí will live an unforgettable Holy Week and Easter from April 9 to 23, after two years of interrupting its iconic events due to the pandemic.

The Procession of Silence in San Luis Potosí, which dates back to 1954, is without a doubt the most important annual event of Holy Week at the state, national and international levels.

The Procession is a Cultural Heritage of the State of Potosino since 2013 and is in the process of being considered a Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. It is a beautiful expression of faith that in this 2022 celebrates 69 years of tradition. The solemnity and spectacular nature of the Processional Route, framed by the characteristic costumes, will turn the first painting in the city into a living Via Crucis that recreates the fervor with which the Passion and Death of Jesus of Nazareth is commemorated. On the other hand, events in the four regions of the state will dress in tradition, mysticism and hubbub. The burning of Judas, altar contests in honor of the Virgen de los Dolores in the Capital, for example.

In the Huasteca region, there will also be various events around culture and religiosity, such as the carnival and the Devils of Tanlajás and the ritualistic magic of the Voladores de Tamaletom in Tancahuitz.

As well as the traditional parade of Huehues accompanied by traditional band music and the burning of Judas de San Antonio, in addition to being surprised by the impressions of 80 cm high carved wooden masks in the municipality of Tancanhuitz, these are just some of the cultural options that they will instill a sense of identity and continuity, thus contributing to the promotion of respect for diversity and human creativity.

In addition to the ritualistic activities typical of the season, the state will offer a varied billboard of cultural and sporting events of all kinds, such as the National Fair of the Huasteca FENAHUAP in Ciudad Valles, the National Fair of the Enchilada FENAE in Soledad of Graciano Sánchez, the “Copa Potosí”, which will be held in the Capital of Potosina and the Municipality of Soledad de Graciano Sánchez. Abide by everything provided by the Ministry of Health to avoid contagion by Covid19 as much as possible, by reactivating the traditional Easter events, it contributes to boosting the economy in the new normality, and endorsing the traditions that are so important for Potosinos.
