The Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) estimates that the summer vacation season will conclude with an economic impact of between 15 and 20 million pesos in San Luis Potosí, driven by the steady arrival of visitors and expectations of increased tourism during the upcoming weekend.

The head of the agency, Yolanda Cepeda Echevarría, said that tourism has so far generated between 5 and 7 million pesos in revenue. However, she expressed confidence that the final days of the holiday period will allow the state to reach its projected goal for the season.

She explained that the agency is continuously monitoring tourism indicators and reiterated the call for municipalities to promptly report data on visitor numbers, hotel occupancy, and economic activity to maintain an up-to-date assessment.

Regarding the condition of the state’s main natural attractions, Cepeda Echevarría stated that tourist destinations are in excellent condition to receive visitors, particularly in the Huasteca Potosina, where buses carrying tourists from different parts of the country continue to arrive.

She noted that the recent rainfall has significantly benefited the region’s rivers and waterfalls, which now have higher water levels and more attractive scenery, enhancing the tourism experience.

The tourism secretary also advised visitors planning to explore these destinations to take precautions against high temperatures, including staying hydrated and using sunscreen during their visits.

In addition, she highlighted that the rainfall has also benefited other regions of the state. As an example, she mentioned that, according to the mayor of Real de Catorce, the recent rains have created favorable conditions even in the Altiplano region, where the desert landscape has also been revitalized.
