SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, SLP — Juan Antonio Villa Gutiérrez, the head of the municipal Secretariat for Security and Protection (SSPC) in the capital city, has publicly reasserted the agency’s commitment to transparency, stating that the doors remain fully open for citizens to report any instances of police abuse.

Speaking on how to rebuild public confidence, Villa Gutiérrez emphasized that the SSPC maintains permanent channels designed to take complaints and monitor police conduct. He urged residents to immediately report any irregularities or perceived abuses of authority so they can be reviewed and addressed by internal leadership.

The security chief highlighted the role of local engagement, noting that the corporation regularly interfaces with around 900 neighborhood committees. These community channels allow citizens to relay suspicious activity and offer feedback directly to officials. Additionally, Villa Gutiérrez noted that working groups remain active with representatives from various civil society organizations.

The statement follows recent social and media pressures questioning police protocols, including criticism from local lawmakers over recent arrests. Despite these challenges, Villa Gutiérrez firmly rejected allegations that operations were driven by improper motives, reiterating that the agency will continue prioritizing dialog to strengthen trust between the public and municipal forces.
