Journalist Rocío López reported to MILENIO that the public security director was arrested as a result of the investigation being conducted by the San Luis Potosí State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) into the case of the seven electricians who disappeared in that state on March 21.

According to unofficial information, Jorge Eduardo ‘N’ is allegedly linked to the criminal group that illegally detained the workers, who reported being victims of forced recruitment.

The municipal official’s arrest stemmed from an anonymous tip, which led to an operation on Monday night. At the location where he was apprehended, authorities also seized 52 bags of marijuana, three bags of crystal meth, and a Nissan Versa.

Jorge Eduardo ‘N’ assumed the directorship of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) of Matehuala on June 1, 2025, the day the city council’s general secretary, Pablo Arriaga, officially announced his appointment.

Days later, he was sworn in as president of the Board of Honor and Justice, the oversight and disciplinary body that monitors the performance of the members of the Municipal Police. This includes misconduct, crimes, or violations of citizens’ rights and guarantees.
