The creation of a cultural museum of time in San Luis Potosí is progressing as a commitment of the state government, announced Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona. The museum will seek to preserve the historical memory of the state from its origins to recent times.

Gallardo Cardona explained that they are currently searching for a suitable site and have already begun collecting historical artifacts to assemble a representative collection, spanning from the indigenous peoples—such as the Huachichiles—through the conquest and the colonial period, to recent decades like the 1980s and 1990s. The governor commented that the idea is to recover elements that were part of the life and culture of “old San Luis Potosí,” including spaces and practices that many current generations are unaware of.

He also emphasized that this cultural project will be complemented by investment in education: 120 new schools are planned for 2026, with approved funding. The goal, he said, is not to limit itself to physical infrastructure such as roads and bridges, but also to promote historical memory and social development.

To understand the significance of this project, it’s worth noting that, according to records from the Cultural Information System (SIC) under the federal Ministry of Culture, there are currently 43 registered museums in the state of San Luis Potosí.

With the creation of this new cultural museum of time, authorities aim to expand the state’s museum offerings, providing citizens—especially younger generations—with a comprehensive overview of the historical, social, and cultural transformations that have shaped San Luis Potosí.
