During an inspection at a parcel delivery company’s National Distribution Center, personnel from the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) seized a bearded dragon (Pogona vitticeps) that was being transported without proof of legal origin.

According to official information, the package was originating in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo León, and destined for the state of Veracruz. The reptile was detected as part of the inspections the environmental authority conducts at courier and freight transport facilities.

The specimen was transferred to a specialized center.
Once seized, the bearded dragon was placed in a Wildlife Management Facility (PIMVS) for safekeeping and protection. An administrative procedure was also initiated to investigate and sanction the irregular transportation of the specimen, in compliance with current environmental regulations.
