Millions of Mexicans felt offended when former President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said in his last speech at the Zocalo in the capital that Mexico has a better health system than Denmark.

An example of this occurred on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 13, when a woman gave birth in the bathroom of the General Hospital of Zone Number 1 of the IMSS in San Luis Potosí (SLP), due to the lack of adequate medical attention.

According to witnesses, the woman waited around four hours to be attended to by the medical staff.

However, no one provided her with care until she went into labor, and in her desperation, she entered the hospital restrooms, where she finally gave birth.

After she gave birth in the bathroom, people who were in the waiting room notified the medical staff and that is when they decided to attend to the mother and the baby.

In light of the events, the State Delegation of the IMSS headed by Cristina Rodríguez Nester has not commented on the matter and the health status of the mother and the baby is currently unknown.

It should be remembered that this is not the first case of this type that has been recorded in the same IMSS hospital.

In December 2023, another woman gave birth in the bathroom, after she arrived at the hospital with intense contractions and hospital staff forced her to wait.

Meanwhile, on social media, patients have been accused of obstetric violence by medical staff at this IMSS Hospital in San Luis Potosi.
