The highly anticipated film adaptation of the novel “Pedro Páramo” by Juan Rulfo will premiere on Netflix on November 6, 2024.
The movie, directed by Rodrigo Prieto, has used San Luis Potosí as its main setting, faithfully recreating the magical and somber universe of Comala, the town of the dead that brings the story to life.
To capture the essence of Comala, the production of Pedro Páramo carefully chose several locations in San Luis Potosí. Among the most notable is the town of Bledos, in the Municipality of Villa de Reyes, which offered an extensive street ideal for an important scene between the characters Juan Preciado and Damiana.
In Bledos, two different eras were depicted: one reflecting the prosperity of Comala and another illustrating its state of abandonment. One of the most memorable scenes was a vibrant town festival with about 300 extras, filmed over two days.
