Construction of the TAM-Bajío highway begins; will reduce trips by two hours
With a length of almost two kilometers, this tunnel stands as one of the largest and most significant in Mexico.
Bermen Pol, in his video, shows the interior of the hill that is being excavated to make room for the tunnel. The advances are visible, and in a unique perspective, the details of the construction in progress are appreciated. The installation of dynamite stands out, which will be used for a controlled explosion that will allow progress in the construction. Although for security reasons he was unable to witness the detonation up close, the mere mention of this step illustrates the magnitude of the work being done.
The video of the construction of the tunnel, published on Tiktok by José Luis Berumen ‘Bermen Pol’, went viral on different social networks.
The highway will run through the Tamaulipas municipalities of El Mante, Gómez Farías, Ocampo and Tula along 107 kilometers, reducing travel times by up to two hours between Bajío (San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, Aguascalientes and Guanajuato) and the cities of Tampico, Ciudad Madero and Altamira.
The project consists of a private investment of 7 billion pesos by Grupo Hycsa. Its construction will generate more than 1,200 direct jobs and 3,400 indirect jobs, additionally more than 250 different pieces of equipment will be used according to their construction stage.
