The western area of San Luis Potosí will have a new 2-kilometer road interchange, designed to improve mobility in one of the capital city’s fastest-growing residential and high-traffic corridors.
In this regard, Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona announced that the project will involve an investment of 1.4 billion pesos and will connect several areas with heavy traffic in the western part of the metropolitan area.
The project also aims to reduce travel times, organize traffic flow, and provide a safer connection for the thousands of motorists who travel daily between residential, educational, commercial, and business areas in western San Luis Potosí.
Which Areas Will the New Road Interchange Connect in San Luis Potosí?
According to the state government, the new road interchange will connect several strategic roadways in an area where urban growth has significantly increased pressure on mobility in San Luis Potosí.
The roads it will connect include:
- Sierra Leona Avenue
- Villa Magna
- Camino a la Presa
- Río Santiago
- Access roads leading to the western part of the capital
The governor stated that the project will feature multiple entrance and exit ramps with a design similar to the Juárez Interchange, one of the city’s most important traffic hubs.
With this configuration, the new interchange is intended to facilitate travel between areas that currently rely on congested intersections or require longer routes to access major roadways.
New Road Interchange in San Luis Potosí Will Cost 1.4 Billion Pesos
The project includes an investment of 1.4 billion pesos, making it one of the most significant mobility projects announced for the capital of San Luis Potosí.
Gallardo Cardona explained that the interchange is part of the State Government’s road infrastructure modernization program, which aims to respond to the continued growth of the metropolitan area.

Construction Expected to Begin Between December 2026 and January 2027
The governor announced that construction is expected to begin between December 2026 and January 2027, once work on the Family Bridge, located on the highway leading to Guadalajara, has been completed.
He also emphasized that sequencing the projects in this manner will allow the state’s mobility program to continue without concentrating all construction activities simultaneously in high-traffic areas.
The new interchange will complement other roadway projects aimed at expanding the capacity of Circuito Potosí and improving connections between rapidly growing urban areas.
