Flight between San Luis Potosí and Chicago unites nations and families

The community from San Luis Potosí residing in Chicago, Illinois, has consolidated its presence over four and even five generations, maintaining strong ties with their homeland despite the passage of more than 30 years. With the implementation of the direct San Luis Potosí–Chicago flight, facilitated by the government of Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, these family and community connections will be strengthened, fostering a closer and more constant bond between those who migrated and their families.

The head of the Institute of Migration and International Liaison (IMEI), Luis Enrique Hernández Segura, emphasized that this air link will allow Mexican nationals to travel nonstop, avoiding long and complicated journeys, and facilitating their return to their places of origin. He stressed that the measure will especially benefit families from municipalities such as Rioverde, Matehuala, and Mexquitic de Carmona, from where, according to statistics, a significant portion of the San Luis Potosí community in Chicago originates.

With actions like this, change is lived and felt by bringing Potosinos living abroad closer to their roots, strengthening family unity and renewing, without borders, the ties that unite generations and territories.
